Bismillah
The Honest Shepherd Boy
One day, Ibnu Umar, one of Khalifa Umar bin Khattab's sons, had a walk with his friend. On the way, they met a shepherd boy with many sheep. Ibnu Umar was getting closed to him and asked, “Can I buy one of your sheep, boy?”
“I’m sorry you can’t, sir. These are not my sheep. Theirs are my
boss,” answered the boy.
“It doesn’t matter. Your boss won’t know it. He doesn’t see what
you did. Moreover, there are many sheep here. Your boss will not know if you
sell one for me,” said Ibnu Umar.
“Where’s Allah, then?” asked the shepherd boy to Ibnu Umar. “My
boss will not know, indeed. But Allah knows everything I do.” Hearing what the
boy said, Ibnu Umar teared. He really amazed with the shepherd boy’s
honesty. That little boy had already felt feared of Allah. Maasyaa Allah.
Because of the shepherd boy’s honesty, Ibnu Umar bought him from
the boss and liberated him. Besides that, Ibnu Umar also bought all of the
sheep for the boy. So, from that time, the shepherd boy became an
independent person and also owned many sheep.
Now we
know, how importance it is to be honest. We must be honest because Allah sees
and knows everything happens in this world, including whatever we do. As the
consequencies of our honesty, people will trust us and Allah will grant us
reward. As what the shepherd boy experienced, Allah granted him through Ibnu Umar by giving him freedom and many sheep. So, let’s be honest in order to be
lucky person. #textstorytellingnggakjadi
