“It’s dark!” shouted a girl in front of me. “It’s slippery
too, dear. Watch your way!” told the guide to us. All of us walked slowly and
carefully, not only because of the darkness but also because of the narrow
tunnel. We moved forward hand in hand.
It was my first experience to walk in a cave. There was strained, excited,
afraid, which mixed in one. I won’t ever forget it. The cave was the entrance
to Ciseeng 2, where we would have outbond activities.
Getting out of the cave, we walked on a river bank. On the
left side, there was a big river with many rocks in it. On the other side of
the river, there was a green panorama that wouldn’t be seen in Cikarang. The
view was so amazing!
After walking down for about five or ten minutes, we arrived
at the base camp. It was a building, a small building, located on the corner of
two streets. When we were going to reach it, there was a motorcross passing.
“Wow! It looks exciting! I want to ride it, too!” shouted some girls. “Sorry,
girls. The motorcross is only for boys. We can ride an off road car, instead,”
told our teacher. “Yaah ... why, Mam?” the girls protested. “Because ... the
rider is a man. And he is not your mahram, is he?” explained the teacher. “Why
don’t you ride for us, Mam? You can ride a motorcycle, can’t you?” a girl still
insisted. “Oh no! It’s prohibited, dear,” answered the teacher.
Only in several
minutes, we finished eating boiled corn and drinking hot tea. We could
wait no longer to start that day’s adventure. Before beginning the journey, the
guides asked us to have a warming up. We had a simple gym and a teamwork game.
In this game, we had to do the instruction in the other way. If the instructor
said “right”, we had to jump to the left. If the instructor said “front”, we
had to jump to the back. It needed high concentration. If you did mistake, you had to kiss a tree. Just like some of our
friends and teachers. Yes! A teacher who made mistake, had to kiss a tree, too.
It was very funny and entertaining.
We started to move, at last! Under the rain, we tried to walk
on an iron pipe that flew over a pond. Many of us failed to walk across and
fell down. “Oh, I’m completely wet!” we cheered together. But that was not the
end of the journey. To reach our destination, the flying fox, we had to walk on
an iron pipe again! And, you know, this pipe was smaller than the first. To
keep the balance, there were two ropes on the right and left side. So, you
could walk safely. However, one of our teacher fell down into the pond! “Huh!
It’s very exciting and stressing!” However, I was actually scared in my heart.
